TRUMP ORDERS BUMP STOCK BAN AFTER FLORIDA SHOOTING

In America buying a gun is as easy as buying candy, anyone can pretty much walk into a shop and get a gun if they so wish. Gun laws may vary depending on the state (in some states you do not even have to tell anyone that you own a gun) but every American has a right to buy and own a gun. With gun prices ranging between a little over $200 to a little over  $500 and ammunition between $150 and $200. So far, in 2018 alone America has seen eight school shootings which resulted in death or injury and a total of 18 school shootings, even innocent children are targeted, in schools, where they should be safe. Federal law in America prohibits the carrying of a handgun or its ammunition by anyone under 18 years of age and at the same time has no age restrictions on possession of long guns or their ammunition. Licensed gun dealers are only allowed to sell to those 21 and older. Despite all this some states have their own regulations for guns – for example, in Minnesota you can sell a gun to a 14 year old without their parents’ approval. Some colleges even allow concealed guns as long as they have permits. In Michigan as long as you have completed an eight hour training course you can carry a gun in schools, day care centers, churches and hospitals, even stadiums.

Here in Ireland and the UK (as well as many other countries) gun laws are way stricter; in order to qualify for buying or possessing a firearm one has to get a permit/license before which rigorous background checks will be carried out to ensure that the person is emotionally and physically fit and that he/she is not putting their lives or the lives of others at risk.

On 14th February this year in Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland, Florida seventeen people, including 14 schoolchildren, were killed when a gunman opened fire at the school. After this incident Donald Trump ordered a ban on bump stocks. What are these bump stocks?  These are devices that can be attached to guns for modification that essentially make semi-automatic guns fire faster.like a fully automatic weapon and fire hundreds of rounds in a minute. Bump stocks were also used in the  Las Vegas shooting where a gunman opened fire into a crowd a killed 58 people.

In concluding, America’s gun culture is a major cause for concern, many innocent lives are lost every year because of this. It is high time something is done about this, this is not good for American citizens and it is certainly not good for tourism as everyone wants to visit a place where they know they will be safe.

Trump and Russia

Let’s take a look at the tangled web of Trump Russia relations. Donald Trump went ahead  and appointed Michael Flynn ( a retired US Army lieutenant general, who is said to have very close ties with the Russians- in 2015 he was paid by a Russian state-sponsored broadcaster to address their gala dinner in Moscow, he has been known to be very close to the Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak) his National Security Advisor inspite of a warning from Former President Barack Obama, an action that has come back to haunt him.

Donald Trump Jr has admitted he met at the Trump Tower in New York, on the 9th June, 2016, with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya (representing the Russian government)  who promised to provide damaging information on Hillary Clinton. Emails have been presented as evidence of how the meeting was set up, but the president’s son has since claimed that no meaningful or useful information was provided and/or collected, this however, does not take away the fact that it’s a clear indication that the Trump campaign and eventually his winning the election had seeked or perhaps even received help from the Russians.

Robert Mueller, (a reputable and widely respected man, an ex FBI director and the second longest-serving  director in history) was appointed  Special Council by the department of justice to investigate the Russia matter. He has since begun an  investigation on the president’s possible obstruction of justice after he, Mr Trump asked for an inquiry on the former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s ties to the Russians to be dropped, an enquiry that was spearheaded by the then FBI chief James Comey. James Comey who testified to a senate that indeed the president asked him to drop an investigation he was doing on Michael Flynn was later fired too ( only a few months later). There’s another enquiry on his firing.

So, how exactly were the Russians involved in the elections?                  On two fronts:.                                         1. The Democratic National Committe’s  system was hacked and classified, official information on Clinton’s campaign and how her office worked were leaked-  this included emails with sensitive and embarrassing ‘dirt’ on Hilary meant to weaken her campaign and therefore her chances of winning the election.                            2. Using Facebook ( and this takes us back to Cambridge analytica) to reach more than 120 million people with made up dirt on Hilary and her campaign, again in an effort to weaken her campaign.

This is all a big puzzle and these people are just smaller fish to fry in uncovering what could potentially be the biggest conspiracy we’ve yet seen in an American president. And having said that, maybe this is exactly what Trump wants to achieve, he prides himself in doing things that ‘ have never been done/seen before’! He believes he’s going to make history and do things that’ll get people talking about him for years to come, something that’s perhaps come about from his life of TV – being a celebrity with his reality TV shows.

TRUMP TWEETS A PERSON WHO DESERVES MY LOYALTY GETS IT, AFTER COHEN”S FBI RAID

Michael Dean Cohen is an American lawyer and spokesperson to American pres, Donald Trump.  Cohen and Mr President go way back- prior to this appointment he served as the executive Vice President of the Trump Organisation as well as special council to Trump. He also was the co-president of Trump Entertainment as well as a board member of the Eric Trump Foundation  (this is a children”s health charity).

Cohen has been a subject of investigation by the FBI for bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations and also payments made to Stormy Daniels. Stormy Daniels (who is now helping with the Cohen investigation) is an adult film star who recently came out alleging that she had an affair with Trump, and was threatened and paid a hefty $130 000 to keep quiet just a month before the 2016 elections. Michael has since come out in a statement saying the money he paid Stormy with came out of his pocket, it had nothing to do with the President, the campaign or campaign expenditures or contributions, and that he has not been reimbursed either directly or indirectly. He says the payment was in every way lawful.

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. raided the Rockefeller Center office and Park Avenue hotel room and seized business records, emails and documents.Donald Trump lashed out in anger saying that that the FBI ”broke into” Cohen’s office and accusing them of being on a witch hunt. “It’s a disgrace, it’s frankly a real disgrace. It’s an attack on our country in a true sense. It’s an attack on what we all stand for,”  was the president’s  remark after the raid. Cohen has since responded to this saying that the FBI were professional, courteous and respectful.  And the FBI did have a warrant which makes everything about this ‘raid’ anything but unlawful.

TRUMP AND CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA; Donald Trump’s Campaign Shifted Odds by Making Big Data Personal

This article takes a look at the latest scandal that has Donald Trump through the establishment Cambridge Analytica (CA). This is a British firm which uses data to influence and change audience behavior.  CA commercial focuses on redefining the relationship between data and marketing by finding customers and moving them into action through their ‘data-driven marketing’ techniques. This is done through analyzing the data collected on individuals and behavioral science to understand every individual. While CA Political focuses on finding voters and moving them to action by redefining the relationship between data and campaigns through their ‘data-driven campaigns’. CA Political has more than 25 years experience, has supported more than a hundred campaigns across five continents.

During Donald Trump’s campaign, CA harvested and used personal data from more than  50 million people’s Facebook accounts, without permission in order to specifically target them with political advertising based on their psychological profiles built/ generated from the information harvested.

Facebook has known about this since 2015 but it was all swept under the rug , also prior to this the organisation had received some warnings about its  data security policies which were left unaddressed. Facebook only reacted to this after this scandal broke by firing the Cambridge university researcher who was responsible for harvesting this data. As a result Facebook has and still stands to lose billions of dollars in the stock market- investors are concerned and wary, and there is a  #deleteFacebook movement.

In conclusion an abuse of power took place and that resulted in people’s privacy being violated which is scary and a cause for concern. Every one has the right to privacy and now people can’t even use their phones without thinking twice – asking themselves if someone could be listening in to the conversation or reading the messages. Everyone deserves and has the right to privacy and to feeling safe and secure especially in their own homes.

Donald also co-authored and published a few books, Trump: Surviving at the Top, The America We Deserve, How To Get Rich, Think Big and Kick Ass, Never Give Up…7to name but a few. From 2003 to 2015 he produced and hosted the Celebrity Apprrntice, a reality TV game shan. He also owned the beauty pageants Miss Universe and Miss USA from 1996 – 2015. Donald went through 3 bankrupcies, in 1991, 2004, 20057

His net worth is an estimated $3.1 billion .

He joined the race for presidency in 2016 as a Republican and emerged victorious against Hillary Clinton, making him the oldest and wealthiest person in American history to assume that role, the first with no prior government, political or military service and experience, as well as the fifth to win after losing the popular vote. This victory came despite the scandals that surrounded Trump, he was on the news constantly- still is to this day- for all the wrong reasons including , being accuse by 19 women of sexual misconduct, a leaked tape of him making sexually explicit remarks and bragging about groping and kissing women, being disrespecful to women, having extra-marital affairs, being linked to a stripper His main priorities in the campaign were tackling illegal immigration and building a huge wall along the US – Mexico border and having the Mexicans foot the bill, offshoring of American jobs, Islamic terrorism to name a few in a bid to, ” make America great again” as his slogan (and he) says. His inauguration took place on Friday, January 20, 2017.

By the end of 2017 a good number of kry White House staff had left- either by being fired or resigning which painted a picture of a White House and a Presidency in chaos, which begged the question, what was going on in the White House? The National Security Advisor , Michael Flynn was the first to go only 25 days into his appointment, followed (in no particular order) by Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, FBI Director James Comey Press Secretary Sean Spicer, four of the President’s aides. His cabinet was also affected by this unusually rapid turnover with the exit of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and the most recent, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson only a few days ago.

In concluding, Donald Trump, as the world has seen has proved himself to be truly an individual who says what he wants when he wants without giving much thought to the repercussions of his words or actions, he is not politically correct. He has left many wondering why he was even elected and trusted with a presidency. The turnover in his tenure has left unanswered questions and raised suspicions as to whether or not he knew what he was doing and why it seems that the people close to him do not believe in his leadership or have no faith in him. And by the same token this is one man who is a very successful entrepreneur in his own right, he has failed/fell down a few times but he does not give up, he picks himself up and tries again which is the same thing he did when he entered politics, he yet again proved that if you believe in yourself or in something you can achieve it even if no one else thinks you can.
